TEKEDU announces Swiss Development Cooperation contributions to expand GirlsGoIT program in more regions in Moldova by providing access to science, technology and engineering workshops on 3D printing, Robotics and Web App Development for girls. The contributions from Swiss will be matched with UN Women, Google RISE Awards, USAID and TEKEDU. The contribution will also support the campaign development to promote and make Vocational Education Sector (VET schools) with technical faculties more accessible to girls through awareness campaign and jointly coordinated with the Ministry of Education.
Swiss Development Cooperation contributions makes GirlsGoIT programs reach more girl-ambassadors currently in their 10th, 11th and 12th grades, from 11 to 13 regions in Moldova, to access STEM-based workshops, which are the Future of Jobs and Work Skills. The regions include; Calarasi, Ungheni, Rezina, Straseni, Soroca, Salcuta, Stefan-voda, Dubasari, Bender, Comrat, Chisinau, Orhei and Hincesti. The contributions also support GirlsGoIT to procure Ultimaker3 3D printer and a Nao Robot, which will be used to conduct STEM-based workshop for 65 girl-ambassadors at the 3rd summer camp edition starting on July 21.
The Google RISE Awards also contributed to the procurement of Makebot Replicator+ 3D Printer, which makes a total of two 3D printers that will be used to conduct STEM-based workshop for girl-ambassadors. The Google RISE Awards grants organisations across the globe that promote Computer Science (CS) education and run initiatives that reach girls.
The contribution of Swiss Development Cooperation also support other planned activities of GirlsGoIT which includes; a 3-day leadership and mentoring conference for girl-ambassadors on soft-skills so that they can run education activities in their local clubs and advocate STEM-based program to their peers in schools and communities, a 4-week autumn camp on web development in 13 regions and GirlsGoIT Annual Forum.
